Major Hall Development Project

Anyone who has visited the hall recently will have noticed that there have been some recent improvements; repairs to the roof, refurbished kitchen / utility area, disabled tiolets, refurbishment of toilets and a new garden at the back.

2010 is going to be an even bigger year for the hall! A significant grant has been secured from South Gloucestershire Council to establish a permenant pre-school at the hall. The project will involve a storey extensions at the back of the hall. The area of the garden on which the extensions are to be built will be re-established by moving the external fence to retain the current sized garden. The kitchen will be relocated to the front of the building. Alterations will be made to the side entrance which will become the pre-school entrance.

The project will bring huge benefits to the Parish Hall and Users. The new relocated fully equipped kitchen in Jubilee Room off main Hall will provide easier access to events in the main hall. More bookings will be able to be accommodated as the Hallwill now be available for hire whilst Pre-School are in session. An enlarged Committee Room will also be available for functions and meetings evenings and weekends and the external appearance of the building will be improved with the removal of the flat roofs to the rear. The permenant pre-school areas will be subject to a long term lease guaranteeing rental income. Storage will be improved and the new office and lobby at front of the building to be for the sole use of the Parish Hall. For more information see the attached plans.

The timeline for the project is tight. Design completion is due for March 2010 with planning approval in June 2010. Subject to approval a tender period will run for July to September with work commending in October 2010 and due to complete March 2011. Disruption to users will be kept to a minimium and a meeting will be held on Thursday 22nd April with user groups to schedule to understand their wishes and concerns.

The Parish Hall is an important facility for us all and should aim to be the centre of a vibrant and active local community. It is a facility which we all have a vested interest in maintaining and developing. If you have specific concerns or suggestions regarding the project please use the form below.
