Parish Show 2010 - The Parish Hall Committee are planning to organise a weekend  summer event on 21/22nd August 2010  to include a  flower/produce /craft show  and a vintage car display to based in and around the Parish Hall . We are seeking support and help from groups and individuals who would like to become involved in helping or exhibiting with an event of this size. As you can appreciate a lot of work will need to be done to make this successful, therefore we propose sub committees will be established from interested parties to agree a format and schedule of classes. A lot of thought and ideas have already been suggested but now need to be put together, so why not come and join us to make this a weekend to remember and an event for the Parish of Olveston to be proud of.

Why not come along to the Parish Hall on Tuesday 17th November at 7.30 for an informal meeting, all welcome. If you would like to become involved please ring Geoff Chappell 615806 or  just turn up. Your help would be appreciated.

The Future of your Hall

Anyone who has visited the hall recently will have noticed that there have been some recent improvements; repairs to the roof, refurbished kitchen / utility area and a new garden at the back.

Welcome though these are, it has been agreed that, a longer term plan is needed to upgrade the Hall in order to make sure it fully caters for current, but also potential future, needs. In order to do this a small group has been set up to consult widely, not only with existing users but also the whole community.

The Parish Hall is an important facility for us all and should aim to be the centre of a vibrant and active local community. It is a facility which we all have a vested interest in maintaining and developing. Your views are therefore needed to help formulate plans for the future. We need to know how the Hall can more effectively meet current needs but also what needs it should cater for that are not currently met.

As a result of this consultation exercise it will be possible to compare current facilities with the needs, wishes and expectations of our community in order to clearly identify the changes and improvements that are needed. This will provide the basis for a long term plan for the Hall and a focus for fund-raising and obtaining grants.

We need imaginative, even wacky, ideas. Ask yourselves, what are we missing locally and what do we need to make local villages better places for all of us. both young and old.
